James Harvey Langford, Sr. was the first child of Fielding Langford and Sarah Bethurum. He was born in Somerset, Pulaski, Kentucky on April 30, 1831, and he died in Colonia Oaxaca, Sonora, Mexico on May 29, 1908. James Harvey married Mary Caroline Turnbaugh on September 14, 1856. That marriage ended in divorce when Mary Caroline brought suit for divorce on February 5, 1980. The day before that happened, James Harvey wrote a letter to an attorney (we're not sure if the attorney was his or hers) to give his perspective about the divorce. That letter, and more information about the divorce, is given in Ida-Rose Langford Hall's Langford Book, pp. 127-128.
Ida-Rose, in her Langford Book (starting on p. 125), gives quite a lot of information about James Harvey and Mary Caroline. In addition, this page gives stories about James Harvey and Mary Caroline that are not in the Langford Book. This page also gives links to their family group record and Mary Caroline's pedigree chart and her Turnbaugh and Davis ancestors.
